Puerto Rico’s Resident Commissioner and New Progressive Party President has just announced via Twitter the date of his appearance before the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization: June 17, 2013.

The move had been previously announced but this is the first time we have an official date for his appearance. Expect testimony by the Puerto Rican Independence Party and other independence groups as well, since they are traditionally the only ones who seek to testify in this forum.

The United States has previously stated that it considers the issue of Puerto Rico’s status an internal affair.
