Marijuana in the territories: a status report

Each territory holds different policies in place for marijuana possession. Some territories, like Puerto Rico, legalized marijuana for adult use and for medical purposes. Others, like the United States Virgin Islands, have developed programs for people only to use marijuana for medical reasons.

Border agents murdered off the coast of Puerto Rico

Drug smugglers shot five of the US border agents fourteen miles off the coast of Puerto Rico on Thursday. Once the agents had been airlifted to a hospital, one died, and the others were in severe condition.

An air pollution permit must be obtained before a refinery in the US Virgin Islands can reopen

The Environmental Protection Agency ruled that the owners of a refinery, paralyzed after an accident, must obtain an air pollution permit. This decision is intended to ensure the safety of the citizens of the US Virgin Islands and the environment. 

Gas prices in Guam drop by 10 cents

On this day, the citizens of Guam had another reason to celebrate: the price of gasoline had dropped. The rate to buy a gallon of gasoline dropped to $4.90, the first price change in more than a month for the US territory. 

Volcano likely erupting near the Northern Mariana Islands

According to scientists, an underwater volcano is likely to erupt near the Northern Mariana Islands. Although the distance of the volcano makes it difficult to access, scientists will continue to research its activity.
