The race to replace Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan as the delegate in the United States House of Representatives for the Northern Mariana Islands has Kimberlyn King-Hinds (R) in the lead according to our poll, with 41.7% of respondents backing her. She has an ample lead over Edin Propst (D) and John Oliver Delos Reyes Gonzales (I), who came in second and third with 22.2% and 19.4% of voters favoring them, respectively. Trailing them is James Rayphand (I) with 8.3%, Liana Hofschneider (I) with 2.8%, undecideds at 2.8%, and the none of the above option, also at 2.8%. The sample size we obtained for this poll was unfortunately very small, but diverse in their opinions.

Looking at the favorability ratings for candidates in this race, as well as the incumbent governor and lieutenant governor, we found that only King-Hinds and Lieutenant Governor David Apatang had overall favorable ratings. Every other official mentioned had overall higher unfavorable ratings, especially Liana Hofschneider (I), The one exception was James Rayphand (I) who seems to be lacking name recognition since a higher proportion of respondents indicated they were undecided about him.

In the Northern Mariana Islands polls are open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm ChST (4:00 pm to 4:00 am EST). Should King-Hinds prevail on Tuesday, this would be a flip for Republicans in Congress, since Sablan, the only person to have held the role, has caucused with Democrats after his election in 2009. Results are expected shortly after polls close.
