Puerto Rico Governor lobbies United States Government to prevent a “Medicaid cliff”

Unlike the other 50 states, Mmedicaid for Puerto Rico is not proportionally fundedpart of the annual United States. Puerto Rico Gov.vernor Pedro Pierluisi (NPP, D) is seeking to change this, in order to better provide medical care to Puerto Rican citizens.

Sargassum returns to the US Virgin Islands

Sargassum is a genus of large brown seaweed, appearing annually in the US Virgin Islands. It emits a foul odor, and can cause boating issues. Nevertheless, sargassum is of vital importance to the marine ecosystem. 

An earthquake strikes off the coast of the Northern Mariana Islands

A 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred 149 KM (92 miles) northeast of Farallón De Pájaros, a part of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The Department of the Interior announces $3,866,108 in grants to American Samoa

These grants will go to “constitutional convention planning, human resource development and training, technological upgrades, digitization and preservation efforts, and small business incubation efforts in American Samoa.”
