One of the newest airlines from the Northern Mariana Islands, Marianas Southern Airways, has opened a new route from Saipan to Guam. People can now enjoy their service which will consist of two daily flights; one flight will leave from Saipan to Guam at 12:30 pm and the other will be leaving Guam at 6:40 pm.
Protests occurred in San Juan, Puerto Rico as citizens were outraged at the energy company LUMA. Police used tear gas and physical violence to mitigate the civil unrest.
A US Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator met with Governor Albert Bryan Jr. (D) to strengthen their partnership. The EPA is continuing its long-term recovery efforts after multiple hurricanes had disastrous effects on the region.
Only 40% of registered voters in Guam voted in the 2022 primary election that occurred on Saturday. This is the lowest turnout in years for the region.
With many still worried about the possibility of volcanic activity near American Samoa, a retired geologist explains that the underwater volcano in the Manu’a group of islands could pose a threat if the crater were to collapse. This has the possibility of causing a large tsunami in the region.
