by | Feb 22, 2023 | Data, Google Trends in the Territories, Headlines | 0 comments

Welcome to our new monthly series called Google Trends in the Territories, highlighting the top Google search topics in the five US territories: Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands. As residents of these territories often face unique challenges and opportunities that may not be familiar to those living in the continental United States. By examining the most popular Google searches in each territory, we can gain insight into the issues that matter most to those citizens.

Each month, we’ll explore the top five rising searches in each territory, ranging from current events and politics to entertainment and lifestyle topics using data from Google Trends. Our aim is not only to inform but also to spark conversations about the issues that affect residents of the US territories. Whether it’s exploring the latest trends in island fashion or discussing the impact of federal policies on these communities, we hope to shed light on the issues that matter most to our readers.

Through this series, we also hope to showcase the unique cultures and identities of each territory, which are often overlooked in mainstream media. From the rich history and traditions of Puerto Rico to the stunning natural beauty of Guam, each territory has its own story to tell. By sharing these stories, we hope to promote greater understanding and appreciation of the diversity and resilience of our fellow citizens in the US territories.

Trends data is an unbiased sample of Google search data. It’s anonymized (no one is personally identified), categorized (determining the topic for a search query), and aggregated (grouped together). Each month we’ll embed the direct data tables from Google so you can dig in deeper and learn more about each topic and the levels of interest over time. We will also mention the top rising queries, which are those with the biggest increase in search frequency since the last time period.
