Meeting the Needs of Our Community (MTOC) announced the appointment of Dan A. Derima as the organization’s new Executive Director, effective October 16, 2023. With a steadfast commitment to addressing homelessness, providing support services to homeless persons, and supporting US veterans in need, Mr. Derima is poised to lead MTOC into a new era of community impact.
MTOC has been in operation in the US Virgin Islands since 2000, providing critical support services for the homeless, homeless US veterans, and persons with HIV/AIDS. MTOC’s Board of Directors believes that Mr. Derima’s extensive experience and dedication make him the ideal leader to guide the organization in furthering its mission.
“Mr. Derima brings a unique blend of passion and expertise in addressing the challenges faced by the homeless population and US veterans,” said Dwayne Benjamin, Sr., MTOC Board Chairman. “Under his leadership, we are confident that MTOC will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Derima, with a proven background in supportive housing and counseling, expressed his commitment to the cause, stating, “I am honored to join MTOC in this role and contribute to the vital mission of meeting the needs of our community, whether it is providing support services for the homeless, or placing US veterans into homes. Together, with the MTOC Team, we will work tirelessly to create positive change and improve the lives of the less fortunate in our community.”
MTOC, established in 2000, is a leading organization in the United States Virgin Islands dedicated to providing comprehensive support services for the homeless, providing support services for persons with HIV/AIDS, and homeless US veterans. The organization is the Lead Agency for the Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) in the territory and collaborates with community partners within the US Virgin Islands Continuum of Care to address the unique needs of its constituents.
