Typhoon Choi-wan seen on September 17, 2009, after it tore through the Northern Mariana Islands with 160 mph winds. Though no casualties were reported, it devastated Alamagan, destroying nearly every building and forcing the entire island to evacuate to Saipan.

A designer with a strong interest in science, policy, and innovation, he previously served as the national executive vice president of the Puerto Rico Statehood Students Association.
