National Building Museum – Private Architecture Tour
January 13 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EST
The National Building Museum is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Washington, DC. It is a museum of “architecture, design, engineering, construction, and urban planning”. It was created by an act of Congress in 1980, and is a private non-profit institution. The museum hosts various temporary exhibits in galleries around the spacious Great Hall.
The building, completed in 1887, served as the Pension Building, housing the United States Pension Bureau, and hosted several presidential inaugural balls. It is an important early large-scale example of Renaissance Revival architecture, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1985.
Join us for a private, 60-90 minute guided tour of this architectural and historic landmark. After our tour there will be an opportunity to visit several of the museum’s other exhibits on your/our own.
Registration: Participation in this program requires a $11.00 per person pre-registration fee, payable when you RSVP, with proceeds supporting the National Building Museum and our Washington, DC History & Culture non-profit programs. Full refund if the event is cancelled, rescheduled, or if you change your online RSVP from “yes” to “no” at least 72 hours beforehand.
Weather: This event is indoors and will take place rain or shine.
Meeting Point: Meet inside of the National Building Museum at the information desk. We’ll have our traditional group “icebreaker” introductions and then proceed on our tour.
Additional Questions: Anything that can’t be answered by the above event description, Google, or common sense please let us know.
