The Republican tax bill is terrible for jobs, terrible for public services and health care, and terrible for racial, gender and economic inequality in the U.S. Elected officials who voted for this bill need to be held accountable.
Democratic elected officials need to fight hard against this bill, commit to working hard to repeal it entirely if it passes, and raise taxes on big corporations and the wealthiest 1%. Those who don’t are doing Trump’s work for him.
We have the same fight here in Illinois: our governor gives tax breaks to corporations and the 1% while making racist, ageist, sexist cuts to services that the most vulnerable in Illinois depend on.
Corporations are not the real job creators, and this tax cut isn’t going to create any jobs – government can create jobs by taxing the rich and using that money to employ people to build and maintain infrastructure and provide the many services needed by people in our communities.
