Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday on Presidents Day and visit Mount Vernon with us for FREE – normal adult admission price is $20. This event is open to the public and all are welcome, including children.
Mount Vernon is always popular. That combined with the free admission means that thousands of people will be visiting. Last year on President’s Day, due to some unusually warm weather and many Meetup attendees, Mount Vernon recorded its highest single day attendance ever – 22,000 people. Despite the large number of people the only place that seemed crowded was the café at lunch time. This is because is Mount Vernon is an extremely large complex spread over hundreds of acres with many things to see and do besides the visitor center/museum and the main house.
Our strategy will be to arrive early. Let’s meet outside at 8:30 am and get in line since the doors open at 9:00. We can socialize while we’re waiting and the time will go by quickly. To find our group look for people with Meetup stickers, which we’ll hand out. More specific details will be provided as we get closer to the event date.
