On August 15, 1945, Japan surrendered to the United States, allowing the US military to take the Northern Mariana Islands. Japan had control over the territory since 1914, following World War I. The islands were the site of significant battles during World War II.

Casey Bell is a senior pursing her degree in Communications at Florida Atlantic University. She participated in her newspaper club in high school and continued this passion through posting and creating content on social media apps like Twitter and YouTube.
