Three men charged with assault of a transgender woman in Puerto Rico

On February 24, 2020, three men attacked Alexa Negrón Luciano, who was later found dead. Luciano was a transgender woman, who was homeless at the time of the attack. Perpetrators Rafael Laboy García, Christian Yamaurie Rivera Otero, and Anthony Steven Lobos may face up to 35 years in prison.  

All executive branch workers in Guam must be vaccinated

On August 6 Governor Lou Leon Guerrero mandated that all executive branch employees in Guam be fully vaccinated by September 24, 2021.

The CDC advises against travelling to the US Virgin Islands

The US Virgin Islands, along with 15 other locations have been added to the “Level 4: Covid-19 Very High” risk level. Travelers are advised to avoid these locations.

Two casinos to be shut down in the Northern Mariana Islands 

Saipan Local Law 22-6 will shut down Saipan Vegas and Club 88, putting 70 locals and other US workers out of work. This has led to employee protests. 

Nathan Ikon Crumpton, the Tokyo Games sprinter for American Samoa, placed last but remains hopeful about Olympic career 

Crumpton placed ninth in the men’s 100-meter dash, but still plans to compete in skeleton sledding in the winter Olympics.
